Learning Through Play!
As a childcare provider for children under 5, Tinytoons delivers the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). The EYFS provides a framework for helping children learn and develop to their full potential. Within the EYFS there are 7 areas of learning and development, which are listed below.
• Communication and language
Tinytoons provides opportunities and encouragement for children to develop in this area by giving children opportunities to experience a rich language environment; to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves; and to speak and listen in a range of situations.
• Physical development
The physical development of babies and young children is encouraged through various opportunities where they can be active and interactive to improve their skills of co-ordination, control, manipulation and movement. Tinytoons provides healthy balanced foods please see the menu page for an example of the meals provided. Tinytoons also provide healthy snacks at snack time, (Fruits, Raisons, Carrot and bread sticks)
• Personal, social and emotional development
Tinytoons provides experiences and support which will help your child to develop a positive sense of themselves and of others, respect for others, social skills and a positive disposition to learn.
• Literacy
Tinytoons provides lots of opportunities to encourage children to link sounds and letters and to begin to read and write. Tinytoons provide a wide range of reading materials (books, poems, and other written materials) to ignite their interest. Equally attending the local libury weekly to explore the reading materials there (Please note tinytoons will also assist you in registering your child with the library and enable your child to swop books on a weekly basis should you require)
• Mathematics
Children will be supported in developing their problem solving, reasoning and numeracy skills in which they can explore, enjoy, learn, practice and talk about their developing understanding.
• Understanding the world
Children will be supported in developing the knowledge, skills and understanding that help them make sense of the world around them through interacting with people, animals and environments, and by working with a range of materials. Tinytoons offers gardening experiences enabling children to explore and discover the mini beasts and the learning process of growing their own fruit and vegetable.
• Expressive arts and design
Children's creative development will be aided through support for their curiosity, exploration and play. They will be given opportunities to explore and share their thoughts, ideas and feelings, for example through art, music, movement, dance, imaginative and role play activities, mathematics and design and technology.
The following extract is taken from the EYFS Guide book and sums up the ethos of Tiny Toons -
"Children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure. When their individual needs are met and when they have positive relations with the adults caring for them".
